The Department of Management Science, established in 2002 , is one of the teaching institutions under the School of Management Science and Engineering. It currently has 12 full-time teachers, including 5 doctoral supervisors , 8 professors , and 1 associate professor. There are 2 teachers with national talent plan titles , 5 teachers with Sichuan talent plan titles , and 2 members of the Sichuan Provincial Management Science and Engineering Teaching Steering Committee .
The Department of Management Science adheres to operations and optimization as its core, focusing on five fields: financial big data and risk management, complex management systems, smart transportation and logistics, supply chain and service management, and has formed in the aspects of talent echelon construction, academic achievement innovation and social service contribution. Distinctive characteristics and comparative advantages, and achieved a number of significant results. In terms of talent training, the Department of Management Science takes "wide caliber, solid foundation, refined majors, emphasis on intersection, and distinctiveness" as the design principles of the talent training program, implements the "four-in-one" undergraduate talent training model, and establishes a "student-centered" The four-level tutoring system vigorously promotes general education, highlights the integration of management science with finance, statistics, and computer science, and cultivates a high sense of social responsibility, leading innovation awareness, sound physical and mental quality, excellent practical ability, and broad-mindedness. Innovative and application-oriented high-quality professionals with international vision, solid professional theories and skills, who are qualified for economic management work in governments, enterprises, institutions and social organizations.
In terms of professional construction, the Department of Management Science has undergraduate majors in Management Science and Big Data Management and Application, and first-level master and doctoral programs in Management Science and Engineering (including financial big data and risk management, system engineering and operations management, and artificial intelligence and data engineering). At present, the Department of Management Science has won many achievements in professional construction. The Department of Management Science was approved as an undergraduate major in Management Science in 2002 , and obtained the authorization of the first-level master's program in Management Science and Engineering in 2006. In 2008 , the discipline was rated as a key first-level discipline in Sichuan Province. In 2011 , it was authorized to be a first-level doctoral program in this major. In 2014 , it was approved as a postdoctoral research mobile station. In 2021 , it was approved to establish an undergraduate major in Big Data Management and Application. In 2022 , the undergraduate major in Management Science won the "Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Point".

At present, 2 postgraduate courses on the National Smart Education Platform of the Ministry of Education , 2 first-class courses in Sichuan Province, and 1 Xinhuanet “Xinhua Ideological and Political” platform course have been completed . In addition, teachers from the Department of Management Science have won 4 teaching achievement awards at or above the school level , presided over 5 provincial education reform projects, and published more than 10 textbooks and monographs . At the same time, the Department of Management Science actively guides and organizes students to participate in various subject competitions and innovation and entrepreneurship competitions at all levels. Up to now, students have participated in the "China International ' Internet +' College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition", "National Challenge Cup College Student Entrepreneurship Competition", "National College Student Mathematical Modeling Contest", "National Statistical Modeling Contest" and "National University Market Survey and Analysis Contest". He has won various honors including special prizes and first prizes in many competitions such as the International Supply Chain Modeling and Design Competition, the National Enterprise Competition Simulation Competition, and the GMC International Enterprise Management Challenge.
In terms of scientific research, in recent years, teachers of the Department of Management Science have published more than 100 papers in authoritative domestic and foreign journals such as TS , TAC , TR-B , POM , IISE , Automatica , EJOR , NRL , Economic Research, Chinese Science, and Journal of Management Science; a total of more than 10 million yuan in national project funds have been obtained, including the Natural Science Foundation of China's Outstanding Young Scholars Program, Excellent Young Scholars Program, and Key Projects; and have won the International " Ho-Pan-Ching-Yi" Paper Award, the China Society for Systems Engineering Youth Science and Technology Award, the 18th Sichuan Province Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, the 19th Sichuan Province Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, and other provincial and ministerial awards or above.
Looking to the future, the Department of Management Science will adhere to the fundamental task of cultivating morality and educating people, put innovation at the core of the overall development, take "promoting the strategic upgrade of 'new finance'" as the strategic guide, stand at a higher starting point, aim at higher goals, grasp the strategic initiative, innovate practical paths, integrate disciplinary elements, and strive to build a theoretical system of management science with Chinese characteristics, and contribute the strength of the management science of Xi'an University of Finance and Economics to the construction of China's management science and engineering disciplines and economic and social development.
