School of Management Science and Engineering
The School of Management Science and Engineering was established in 2022 based on majors of the former School of Economic Information Engineering and the School of Statistics. The school adheres to a development philosophy rooted in management and science disciplines, embracing interdisciplinary integration, and fostering distinctive characteristics. It implements the national strategy for the development of the digital economy, grasps the forefront trends of international development in management science, and serves the significant needs of economic and social development.
The school has a high-level faculty team led by national and provincial-level talents, outstanding middle-aged and young academic leaders, and excellent teachers with professional ethics and conduct. The age structure of the faculty is well-balanced. Currently, there are more than 40 full-time teachers, including 17 professors, 10 associate professors, 14 doctoral supervisors, and over 90% of frontline teachers possess doctoral degrees. Among them, there are 2 national-level talents, 1 member of the Advisory Board of the Ministry of Education, 2 participants in the Tianfu Talent Program, 6 academic and technical leaders and reserves in Sichuan Province, and 5 members of the Advisory Board of Sichuan Province.
The school has a first-level discipline doctoral program in management science and engineering, with a post-doctoral research station in “Management Science and Engineering”. It offers four research-oriented master’s programs including Business Intelligence, Financial Trade E-commerce, Technology Economics and Management, and Management Science and Engineering (including doctoral programs) with five research directions including Financial Big Data Analysis and Risk Management, Systems Engineering and Operations Management, Data-driven Business and Social Governance, Information Management and Financial Intelligence Management, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering. Additionally, it offers five undergraduate programs, including Management Science, Big Data Management and Applications, E-commerce, Information Management and Information Systems, and Computational Finance. The school consists of the Department of E-commerce, the Department of Management Science, the Department of Information Management and Information Systems, and hosts the Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Management Science at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics.
In recent years, faculty members of the school have cumulatively published over 200 papers, among which more than 40 have been published in prestigious journals both domestically and internationally, including MISQ, TS, TAC, Automatica, TR-B, POM, IISE, JMIS, EJOR, NRL, TR, ISJ, Economic Research, Science China, Journal of Management Science and Engineering, and other authoritative journals.
They have obtained over 10 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Foundation of China, including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Excellent Young Scientist, and Key Projects. The total funding received for national-level projects exceeds 10 million RMB. They have also been awarded various provincial and ministerial-level honors, including the international “Ho-Pan-Ching-Yi” Award, the Youth Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Systems Engineering, the 18th and 19th Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards of Sichuan Province, and other awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level.
