The Department of Information Management and Information Systems (hereinafter referred to as the Department of Information Management) was established in 1985. It is currently one of the teaching institutions under the School of Management Science and Engineering. There are 13 full-time teachers, including 3 doctoral supervisors, 4 professors, 5 associate professors, and 12 teachers with doctoral degrees. Among the teachers, there is 1 "senior talent plan" for high-level talents introduced by Sichuan Province, and 2 reserve candidates for academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province. The Department of Information Management is committed to the innovation and development research of the interdisciplinary disciplines of economic management and information technology under the background of digital economy, and cultivates compound professionals who have both modern economic management theoretical literacy and master information science theory and technology, and can solve real financial problems. Since its establishment, the Department of Information Management has achieved certain results in professional construction, teaching achievements, and scientific research.

In terms of professional construction, the Department of Information Management currently has an undergraduate major in Information Management and Information Systems and a graduate major in Business Intelligence. At present, the Department of Information Management has won many honors and awards in professional construction. In 2007, the major of Information Management and Information Systems was rated as a provincial characteristic major; in 2013, the master's programs of Information Management "Management Science and Engineering" and "Technical Economy and Management" were rated as key disciplines in Sichuan Province; in 2022 , the Department of Information Management and Information won the "Provincial Double First-Class Undergraduate Professional Construction Point".

In terms of teaching achievements, the professional talent training experience of the Department of Information Management has won the second prize of the 8th Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award of Sichuan Province in 2017 and the special prize of teaching achievements of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in 2021. At present, one IBM boutique course of the Ministry of Education , one boutique course of Sichuan Province, two online boutique courses of Sichuan Province , one demonstration course of ideological and political education in Sichuan Province , one innovation and entrepreneurship course in Sichuan Province , and one all-English major have been established . In addition, teachers of the Department of Information Management won the second prize of Sichuan Province Teaching Achievement Award, presided over 7 provincial teaching reform projects , published 7 teaching reform papers , and published 7 textbooks . At the same time, the Department of Information Management also pays attention to the construction and improvement of the innovation and entrepreneurship curriculum system. In addition to traditional financial technology courses, it has added innovation and entrepreneurship courses such as "Blockchain Technology and Encrypted Digital Currency", " IT Entrepreneurship", and "Network Entrepreneurship" to strengthen the guidance of students in innovation and entrepreneurship theory. In addition, the Department of Information Management also actively encourages students to participate in various domestic and international competitions. At present, students of the Department of Information Management have won first prizes and other honors in many competitions such as the "National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition", "National College Student Computer Design Competition", "Citi Cup Financial Innovation Application Competition", and "Guanghua Entrepreneurship Competition".

In terms of scientific research, in recent years, teachers of the Department of Information Management have published more than 50 high-level academic papers in well-known journals such as IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering , Information Sciences , Decision Support Systems , Information Systems Journal , Information & Management , European Journal of Information Systems , International Journal of Electronic Commerce , Expert Systems with Applications , Energy , Industrial Management & Data Systems , Electronic Commerce Research & Applications , Online Information Review , etc. , and more than 20 national and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects have been approved.

Based on the existing achievements, the Department of Information Management will adhere to the fundamental task of cultivating morality and educating people. Under the guidance of our school's "New Finance" strategy, it will actively promote the cross-integration of information management majors and other financial majors to provide talent support for the development of my country's digital economy; actively promote scientific research related to the digital economy to serve the major needs of my country's economic and social development.
