On November 30, the founding meeting of the Chengdu Alumni Association of the School of Management Science and Engineering of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics was successfully held at the Guanghua Campus. Gui Fuqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University, members of the Alumni Affairs Office and the School of Management Science and Engineering, and faculty representatives attended the meeting. A total of more than 80 alumni representatives from Sichuan and Chongqing attended the meeting. Yuan Chengwei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the School, presided over the meeting.

On behalf of the school, Gui Fuqiang extended his sincere congratulations to the newly established Chengdu Alumni Association of the School of Management Science and Engineering, and extended a warm welcome to the alumni present. He pointed out that the School of Management Science and Engineering is an important part of the school's "Science and Engineering Discipline Climbing Plan" and undertakes the important task of implementing the national digital economy development strategy. By continuously accelerating the optimization of the layout of interdisciplinary disciplines and the connotation-based high-quality development of discipline construction, the overall comprehensive level of disciplines continues to improve. He emphasized that the achievements of the college are inseparable from the hard work of all teachers, students and staff, and even more inseparable from the strong support of the majority of alumni. Alumni are the most precious wealth of the school, and they are a community of shared destiny with their alma mater. It is hoped that the School of Management Science and Engineering will continue to uphold integrity and innovation, work hard, and work together with the majority of alumni to unite and seek common development, provide intellectual support for the school's governance and career development, and contribute to the acceleration of the construction of an education power. On behalf of the school, Lu Wanbo, dean of the School of Management Science and Engineering, extended a warm welcome and sincere thanks to the alumni present. He fondly reviewed the development of the discipline, elaborated in detail on the construction status and future development vision of the school since its establishment in 2022, and emphasized the significance of the establishment of the Chengdu Alumni Association of the school. He pointed out that the establishment of the Chengdu Alumni Association of the School of Management Science and Engineering on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the School of Finance and Economics is not only a tribute to the glorious history of the past, but also an important measure to open a new chapter in the future. He emphasized that alumni are an important boost to the construction and development of the school and a beautiful business card for external display. The school should focus on building a bridge for communication and contact between alumni and their alma mater, building a platform for information exchange and resource sharing, and working with alumni to share the deep affection for their alma mater and seek the development of the school.

Shi Min, a 2003 alumnus, served as the first secretary-general of the Chengdu Alumni Association of the College and delivered a speech. He was proud of the achievements of his alma mater and the development of the college. He said that the Chengdu Alumni Association of the College is not only a bond for connecting alumni, but also a platform for information exchange and a booster for career development. The Alumni Association will uphold the purpose of "serving alumni, connecting feelings, promoting cooperation, and seeking common development", gather the emotions of alumni, inherit the spirit of Xifu, promote win-win cooperation, help the development of the college, and present a gift to the alma mater for its centenary.

Zhang Yuan, director of the school’s Alumni Association Office, read out the Alumni Association’s approval and extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Chengdu Alumni Association of the School of Management Sciences.

Vice Dean Wang Yu read out the list of the first members of the Chengdu Alumni Association of the School of Management Science and Engineering, and the school’s party committee secretary Zhou Min and dean Lu Wanbo issued appointment letters to the members.

After the meeting, the Chengdu Alumni Association of the School of Management Science and Engineering held its first alumni forum. Vice Dean Xiao Hui presided over the meeting. Professor Zhang Hongli and outstanding alumnus Dr. Zhong Kaiyang gave academic reports on the topics of "Research on New Development Models of Real Estate in Sichuan Province in the New Era" and "Banking Financial Technology Development and Talent Demand" respectively.
